The Champion Emerging Leader award recognises dynamic leaders who are ambitious in their outlook and vision, embracing innovation, resilience, and displaying a generous ethos of inspiring and investing in others. The value these leaders bring contributes to the success of not only the business and the individuals within in, but also the Canterbury community.


Question 1: LEADERSHIP STYLE AND IMPACT- Describe using examples, how you have developed your leadership style to positively impact your team, your business and your community.
Word Count: Maximum 500

Things to consider:

  • How have you applied your leadership style to create positive change in your business?
  • Have your sought learning and development opportunities to grow your leadership capability?
  • How have you grown credibility for your business, your profession and your community?

Question 2: EMPOWERING – Excellent leaders create innovative and productive teams. Tell us how your style has created opportunities for the people you work with and the community you live in.  Word Count: Maximum 500

Things to consider:

  • How have you created a culture of inclusivity at your workplace
  • How do you give back (eg mentoring, coaching, community building)

Question 3: PERFORMANCE – Tell us about the positive impact your leadership has had on your organisation’s performance, on people (staff, customers and community), or region and the environment.  Word Count: Maximum 500
